Tarini stormed into the office like a cold front moving through a city.

Her steps were frantic, the click of her heels echoing off the marble floors with an uneven pace. Her brows were pulled together in a deep frown, and her eyes, though sharp as ever, were framed by hollow dark circles that told the story of her sleepless vigil. Her clothes, usually crisp and polished, were crumpled and dull…a reflection of the restlessness that had taken root in her soul.
